man kills 7 month old

Jealous that his son "preferred his mother," a Queens dad fatally beat his 7-month-old, the latest in a rash of violence against small children in the borough, officials said Wednesday.
"Toughen up!" Larry Greene yelled at the crying child before punching him in the chest, prosecutors charged.
Xiah stopped breathing moments later, and died Tuesday night at Queens Hospital Center, the fourth child in the borough to die at the hands of a guardian in five weeks.
"We're grieving right now," Pierre Nady, 47, the victim's maternal grandfather, said Wednesday. "Xiah was only 7 months old - he was a cute, little boy [and] he was loved."
Xiah had a bruise on his scalp, two bruises on the neck and five bruises on the chest that showed imprints of an adult's knuckles, officials said.
The child's mother, Cassandra Nady, asked Greene, 20, who lives nearby, to watch Xiah at her St. Albans home.
"He said the baby fell when he was feeding him but it wasn't even close to the truth," said Nady.
Prosecutors said they have a videotaped confession from Greene, who admits hitting his son - and told them he was upset the boy "preferred his mother". (source)
Wow, i mean seriously, i've heard of some really fucked up shit, but this just takes the cake. Not only did this thing(i refuse to believe any human could be this cruel) punch and baby and kill it, but it's only cos the seven month old, a SEVEN MONTH OLD BABY, preferred it's mother, which seven year old doesn't? the moms got the milk, she's the favourite for now, so this thing was not only jealous enough to hate his baby for preferring the mom, he also shouted at the baby, telling him to "toughen up", before punching him till the poor baby died, i know what i'm about to say might sound just as bad, but i believe thsi man should be castrated with the bluntest, rustiest spoon on the planet, before having salt stuffed in the wound, then we take him to the electric chair.

The saddest thing is, it won't be him to blame, it'll be the video games, or his parents, or something else, but many people just can't accept that these people are genuinely fucked up, they can't be helped. and there will be people who'll believe that he can be rehabilitated, but he can't, at the very best he spends forever in jail, being accomodated for free, coutesy of the american taxpayer. even worse, his relatives refuse to believe he did it:

Greene's shocked sister refused to believe he could be such a monster. "Larry is a good person, he wouldn't do anything like this," said Laquana Greene, 25. "It's a misunderstanding."
This breaks my heart, because i believe she's generally under the impression this man is a wholesome, family man, now, i dunno if this woman will ever read this, but how are you gunna explain the knuckle shaped wounds in his head? or the video confession he has? it breaks my heart, because even though this monster killed a seven year old and admitted to it, there are people still not convinced.

and this is apparently rampant in the area..........

Game Review: Bioshock

skeptical reader: Gee kyle, making a review of Bioshock in 2010 seems like u dumb idea doesn't it? I mean, it was released in 2007 and all.....

me: my blog, my posts

You may be wondering why I'm reviewing a game released in 2007 in 2010, well there are 2 reasons for that:
1) I'm bored
2) I just finished playing it,  why? because i procrastinate, excessively......

On to the review:

pika-boo!!

Bioshock is a roleplaying fps developed by 2K Games. It was released in 2007 and has since gained worldwide popularity and praise. It takes place in the dystopian city of rapture, founded by one of the games major characters, Andrew Ryan. The game begins with the main character sitting in a plane, and by a series of events explained later in the game, the plane crashes next to an entrance to rapture. the player then fights his way though rapture to find and kill Andrew Ryan, guided by a mysterious figure named atlas.

Throughout the game, the player finds small substances called plasmids, which are used to alter his DNA, giving him extraordinary powers, like shooting lightning and lighting enemies on fire via a snap of his fingers. While this may seem like something out of star trek, the game does a good job of explaining the science in a way that makes sense, almost justifying the quick way his DNA is restructured, but explaining that would take forever if you haven't played the game.

The electric plasmid in action

The plasmids are powered by a substance called eve which you store in your body. when you run out of this substance you simply take a hypo for it, where you inject more into your body, if you don't have nay hypos on you, you'll need to find one lying around or purchase one from one of the vendors found around rapture. Think of eve as the games mana, if you don't have any way of regianing it when you run out, you're unable to use your special abilities.

Bioshock manages to look very good, even with today's standards, and in my opinion keeps the whole 60's theme in the forefront, even the icons and how the npc's talk is very 60's, and thats what i love about it, it manages to add science that we don't even have in 2010, while managing to stay in the 60's, even the small details like the icons for the guns and plasmids fit the theme very well, which is a testament to how well the game manages to 'stay in theme'.

Toughest decision in the game, which also affects it ending

But even with the nice graphics and interesting features, the game would not be complete without its amazingly compelling storyline, which is what hooked me. while your killing splicers, or trying to take down a big daddy, your always questioning whether what you're doing is right or not, it allows  you to shoot, just like in any other game, but it keeps you thinking all the way through, you need to piece together the storyline by listening to what the characters say, and listening to the audio diaries found around rapture. This allows you to slowly learn the story as you go through, and the game leaves a considerable amount for you to piece together, which is what makes the story so compelling, it's a story which isn't watered down to an extent where it simply insults the gamers intelligence, it strikes the balance of being mysterious, yet allows you to eventually learn how the events leading up to rapture in its present state occurred..

The most beautiful part of this game is its maturity, its not a game where you just go around shooting things, it has a sense of maturity in itself which is something I've never seen in a shooter, it is a game which manages to have beautiful graphics in an atmosphere which you didn't think could be beautiful, even the things the little sisters say reminds you that at heart, they're still children, so the decision to either rescue or harvest them becomes that much harder, and made me question if I was doing the right thing, that I wasn't making some terrible mistake, which only added to the awe of the game engrossing story and huge twists.

Overall, I have little to say about this game which is bad, I never thought I'd say this, but the game does barely anything wrong, and the only problem which really bothered me was that the characters looked a little fake, but thats really just me nit-picking, if you haven't played this game, your missing out on one of the best gaming experiences ever. a game that you could probably play over and over and never get tired of, and with a supposed 5 sequels planned, you'll have a lot to be excited for.

Why the ipad will succeed....

also known by many as the i-tampon

When i first heard of the ipad, i laughed, it looked like they had just made an iphone 4 times bigger with less functionality, and then i was shocked that people were pre-ordering this little device. but know that the news has settled in, i think apple have made a smart decision, they are doing what they have done with every single one of their product lines, and its worked well so far, so apples decision to move into e-readers isn't all that surprising, especially given the timing.

first, we need to see what apple do as a company, while many say they build computers, i think a different description is appropriate. apple obviously make computers and software, as do all computer manufacturing companies, its what the companies do individually that sets them apart, this is where apple have done something right. back when apple first released their imacs, they were popular, why? because they looked nicer compared to other computers, the fact that they ran mac os also meant less viruses than their windows running counterparts, meaning that businesses had at least a little extra security just by owning a mac.

and this is where apple formed their niche of sorts, they didn't drastically change the way computers worked or revolutionise the industry, they just made their imac nice, it didn't require a tower and it ran a different OS, in the hardware everything was the same, but how apple presented it, as something new, different, something that could be personalised by getting it in a colour that suited you, is what made it seem different. the illusion worked, and the imac sold.....

they did the same with the ipod, there were lots of mp3 players out there, and the ipod didn't bring many new things, and like the imac it didn't revolutionise the industry, but it looked nice, it had a good capacity for storing music while still being very portable, couple this with itunes and you have a winning combination.

arguably the same went for the iphone, the technology was there, touchscreen phones had been out for years, but the iphone looked nice, it was by apple, in peoples eyes it had to be good simply because apple made it. several smartphones had been on the market, but apple did it with arguably more style, which is why it became popular, it is a simple case of the 'ooooh shiny!' syndrome( something i made up just now, its when people buy one product over another because it looks nicer than the latter, even fro a slightly higher price and/or reduced functionality) apple is using the tendencies of consumers to its advantage, an almost diabolical strategy that, unsurprisingly works.

i don't even need to point it out to you anymore, apple make money and became famous because they don't revolutionise the industy, they just repackage what is already there in a pretty bow and market it in a way to convince people that its revolutionary when it isn't. arguably the only way apple has affected the industry is via itunes, something which turned them music indusrty on its head when it was first invented, ripping albums apart and allowing them to by them song by song. this is how apple makes money, its almost like their specialty.

I don't really care if the ipad does well or not, mainly because either way it isn't going to turn my life upside down, it will just be another commercial on tv, another thing to play with when i visit the apple store, another part of the technological industry apple will pretend to 'revolutionise', and more money for them, maybe it will be put to making a gaming mac, one can only dream....

Oh that Katy Perry

Game Review: Heavy Rain

Heavy Rain is a PS3 exclusive, psychological thriller by french developer QuanticDream. it centers around the stories of its four main characters, Norman Jayden, Madison Paige, Scott Shelby and Ethan Mars. while for most of the game the characters may remain separate, their stories all overlap with each other at several parts of the game, but whether they actually meet or not is entirely your decision.

I've been gaming for the past 5 years, but I've still played several classic games( Wolfenstein 3D anyone?) and in all the games I've played, none have sucked me in better than heavy rain. the way the story unfolds had always left me yearning for more, the story is told in an expert manner, better than any I've ever seen for a video game, couple this with the absolutely gorgeous graphics the game contains and you have a winning combination

I dare you to tell me that doesn't look amazing

Never have i seen graphics like those found in Heavy Rain, the humans look so lifelike and act and talk so realistically, that i had to remind myself i was playing a game, not watching a film. the characters very movement looks almost scarily human, and small errors they made gave them a human like quality beyond just a character, i started to agonize over the smallest decisions, worrying what it would do to whoever i was playing, and wondering how it would affect the storyline.

Overall, I believe that Heavy Rain is one of those unmissable titles of the decade, one of those games that I truly believe is worth every cent I paid for it, and if you don't have a PS3, get a friend that has one :P I'm not a fan of numbered reviews, or stars, but i will say that anyone could enjoy heavy rain, and i could see a whole new genre of game with controls mimicking Heavy Rains.
